5 Best Places to Spend New Year’s Eve in The Bay Area

With the Roaring Twenties Less Than Two Months Away, It’s Time to Think About How to Ring in the New Decade. If You’re Going to Be in the Bay Area, Here Are Five of the Best Places to Celebrate

San Francisco’s New Year’s Eve Fireworks at Midnight

Ring in the new year with 200,000 of your closest friends at the annual waterfront midnight fireworks shows on New Year’s Eve. Taking place on Monday, December 31st at 11:59 p.m., this free show (which will be synced with music played through speakers along the promenade) will last for about 15 minutes. Fireworks will be launched from barges positioned 1,000 feet out in the Bay south of the Ferry Building along Pier 14. Recommended viewing spots are south of the Ferry Building along the Embarcadero between Mission and Folsom Street.

New Year’s Eve Shows

In the mood to kick off 2020 with one of your favorite comedians or musicians? John Oliver will be performing at Masonic Auditorium at Nob Hill Masonic Center on New Year’s Eve at both 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. (Tickets start at $100.)

Seth MacFarlane will be performing at Davies Symphony Hall at 8 p.m. (tickets go for around $140), and musicians such as Dillion Francis, Claude Vonstroke, and Spafford will also be performing throughout the city.

New Year’s Eve 2020 Masquerade Ball

Dance the night away at the Hotel VIA Rooftop and Lounge while enjoying panoramic views of the Bay Bridge and the New Year’s Eve fireworks show. VIP tickets for the New Year’s Eve 2020 Masquerade Ball (prices range from $60 to $750) include appetizers, boozy cocktails, and dancing to your heart’s content until the stroke of midnight. Cabana packages and bottle service options are also available.

All-Access Pub Crawl

Grab a few of your favorite drinking buddies and head to the All-Access Pub Crawl, which will stop at several bars in the Marina District. On December 31st, check-in at the registration bar between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. (where you’ll receive a wristband and map of the bars) and then head out to explore. Fittingly, tickets cost $20.20.

Mega New Year’s Eve Party

Gather your group and head to the Palace Hotel for access to a premium open bar (with Don Julio Tequila, Johnny Walker Black, and other top liquors) as well as four separate dance floors with 10 DJs. Rotate between the Latin Room, Hip-Hop Room, Persian/International Room, and Euro/Top 40s Room. Tickets for the Mega New Year’s Eye Party start at $95.
